LincolnCenter is the world’s leading performing arts center. Located on 16.3 acres in New York City, the LincolnCenter complex is comprised of 12 Resident Organizations, and LincolnCenter for the Performing Arts, Inc. is one of those 12. The 11 other organizations are The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Film Society of Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Theater, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, New York Philharmonic, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and the School of American Ballet. Each organization has its own administration and its own board of directors. Together, these twelve institutions present thousands of performances, educational programs, tours and other events each year in 22 separate performance venues on the LincolnCenter campus.

Since LincolnCenter first opened its doors, it has been a major contributor to New York City’s cultural and intellectual life, with an internationally recognized dedication to artistic excellence.

Perhaps less apparent is the extent to which Lincoln Center serves as a dynamic economic engine for the region, hosting some five million visitors annually and transforming the Upper West Side into an exciting neighborhood that is now one of New York’s most desirable places in which to live and work.

About Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. (LCPA)

LCPA is one of the twelve Resident Organizations of Lincoln Center, and serves three primary roles:

LCPA is the world’s leading presenter of performing arts. Its series (“Lincoln Center Presents”) include American Songbook, Great Performers, Lincoln Center Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Midsummer Night Swing, and the Mostly Mozart Festival. These programs offer more than 400 performances of music, opera, theater, dance, and multi-media events each year, ranging from authentic kabuki theater and dance premieres from world-renowned choreographers to traditional Iranian theater; outdoor dancing to live music on Josie Robertson Plaza; opera performed with life-size puppets; and free performances of Korean drumming and African dance. In the 2005–-06 season alone, these events brought more than 3,000 artists from every corner of the globe to LincolnCenter. In addition, Emmy Award-winning Live From Lincoln Center telecasts, the only series of live broadcast performances on American television today, extend the reach of LincolnCenter to millions of Americans nationwide.

LCPA is an international leader in arts and education and community relations, taking a wide range of activities beyond its concert halls through its educational arm, Lincoln Center Institute (LCI), as well as offering arts-related symposia, family programming, and other community initiatives. LCI’s programs serve more than 200,000 students enrolled in over 400 schools grades K-12 throughout the metropolitan area and across the nation. In addition, educational institutes in Australia, China, Mexico, and South Africa incorporate the Institute’s model into their curricula. In the community, LCPA expands it presence with a host of initiatives to make the arts more accessible, including Meet the Artist, the Young Music Makers community band program, and Programs and Services for People with Disabilities.

LCPA is manager of the LincolnCenter campus, providing support and services for the LincolnCenter complex and its Resident Organizations. LCPA maintains and improves the complex’s facilities, coordinating such services as the Performing Arts Shop, security, and parking for the benefit of millions of patrons, visitors, and employees annually. On behalf of the Resident Organizations, LCPA is also leading a major capital, campus-wide redevelopment project, for which construction began in spring of 2006.
