About Us
Called "the best of its kind in the world," by The New York Times, the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake overlooks the lake of the same name.

Six million acres of Adirondack Park surround this place and form the basis of the museum’s exhibits and programs telling the stories of how people have lived, worked, played and traveled in the Adirondack region since the early 1800s

Twenty buildings on 32 acres of grounds and gardens, house exhibits on logging, boats and boating, mining, outdoor recreation, transportation, rustic furniture…, and on-going programs and special events offer a variety of interesting activities for the whole family.

Behind the scenes in the Adirondack Museum Library one can find more publications, maps and other printed material about the Adirondacks than in any other single location; and over 65,000 historic photographs offer a rich visual resource. All museum collections are accessible to the public by appointment.

Awesome place. Wasn't sure we wanted to go but then I saw that the ticket price was for two days. That sealed the deal. I wish more museum type places did that. Usually the cost is too much for the time a family can actually spend. It was also very neat to learn about the Adirondacks in this fashion. The kids loved the interactive stuff.

As ADK park residences, we visit the Adirondack Museum every year. This place is great for anybody with the slightest interest in the history of the region. There is really something for everyone and exhibits change yearly. There are several special events that can pique the interest of even the most mundane and the views of the lake and mountains are sure to impress! If you are looking for a way to spend and day, this is a great place to do it!

i hate when people put the food and gift shop before the importance of the place. this is a great place for a family outing. kids and you can learn a lot and do hands on stuff. i never been to a place like this. the setting is great and a nice drive to it. you can be busy for hours. we enjoyed this place and hope to come back. don't miss out.

Wonderful Museum experience in the Adirondack park by Blue Mountain Lake. Perfect for kids and adults especially if you want to get away from the bugs for a day. Very close to the Blue Mountain Trailhead and Blue Mountain art gallery. There's a new Interactive display in the main building which entertained my ten-year-old all day his favorite was the luxury train car that took Rich patrons to the Adirondacks. If you're hungry don't miss the pulled pork sandwich in the cafe it's really good.

Wonderful museum. So much knowledge to be gained, easily spend 2 days there. The exhibits were great. Several hands things for little kids. Well worth the price of admission.
