Belleayre Mountain Ski Center

181 Galli Curci Road

Belleayre Mountain is located off of State Route 28 in Highmount, NY, just hours from New York City. It was declared "Forever Wild" by the New York State Forest Preserve in 1885. Early on, skiers would side-step or hike their way more than 3,000 feet to be the first to make tracks down un-named and woody trails. Since the very beginning of the American skiing experience, skiers gazed at the steep, rugged inclines of Belleayre Mountain and dreamed of refining them. In the 1940's skiing enthusiasts pressured politicians to develop Belleayre as a safe and fun mountain for families and extreme skiers alike. In 1947 bills were introduced allowing New York State to create Belleayre Mountain. Construction began in 1949 and Belleayre began its premier winter season with five trails, an electrically powered rope tow, New York's first chairlift, a summit lodge, a temporary base lodge with a cafeteria and dirt floors and parking to accommodate 300 people. It would become the center for winter sports in the region and an economic catalyst for surrounding communities.

Great family friendly ski area. Huge variety of slopes and a warm and inviting main lodge. Be sure to enjoy spring skiing to relax out on the deck.

Great ski facility that is not overpriced. Mountain can accommodate skiers of all levels. Always maintained and trails are kept in good shape. Food is also pretty good and we liked the lodge at the top. Awesome place

I just loved it. I really was surprised at the amount of slopes they had and of how long they were. The costumer service there is just amazing. My friend got injured and their ski patrol service was perfect. They have great skiing for all levels. I suggest renting equipment at a nearby shop down the road called Belleayre ski rentals. I really suggest you go there, it's better than the other ones in the area

While this entity is well known for good, less expensive skiing in the winter, in the summer there are good activit├ęs top explore. We parked here and unloaded our bikes and rode along the mountain roads nearby and the pics perhaps confirm what a fine and lush place to explore the area is.

Let me begin by saying how thankful my family was to manager 'Sean' for going above and beyond to take care of our needs as first timers. Although, we did not have reservations for our 3 day lessons, he accommodated us. Our daughter had a blast!. Boots and equipment personnel is sharp. But make sure you get the right size for the boots. Kids camp staff is kind. The only uncomfortable moment was when we try to buy the lesson package on site, and faced cold shoulders from the staff until manager Sean changed all of that and saved our family vacation. Please make reservations (must pay in advance) to avoid headaches. Also, you MUST arrive 1 hour earlier than your lesson, specially if you are not familiar with the place. The only reason I do not give it a 5 stars is because the food sold at the premises is very very expensive and there was an employee smoking while working. Other than that, the instructors are very nice, but the directions vary among them. trails are well kept. Gondola is a must try. It will be helpful if they issue a report card for those taking lessons, and also a survey about our overall experience. We plan to come back next year
