Whether you love tequila or not, there’s no denying that margaritas are one of the best cocktails around. You can get them frozen, on the rocks, original or fruit-flavored. Bars make them with salt or sugar on the rim, depending on what kind of margarita you order. The possibilities are endless. From Albany to the city, here are the best places to enjoy a delicious margarita in New York.
El Loco Mexican Cafe has a list of gourmet and frozen margaritas for you to choose from. You can start off with a regular for $7 or one of their flavored ones, including cranberry, mango, and raspberry. Their margaritas are made with sauza gold, cointreau, and Florida Key lime juice (never sour mix). You can order them straight, on the rocks, or frozen.
Guapo Mexican Cuban Cuisine has a full craft cocktail menu that includes a handful of margarita options. There’s the $12 Mezcal Perfect Margarita (made with Mezcal, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, pineapple juice, and triple sec) and the $12 Flores Margarita (blue agave tequila, fresh lime juice, agave, hibiscus, and lavender infusion). And, of course, there’s a classic margarita with the option to add-in seven different flavors.
On the Border has 11 different margaritas, from the traditional house margarita (made with a classic margarita mix, house tequila, and triple sec) to the Coronarita (a frozen margarita with a seven-ounce Corona tipped in) or even the 1800 Mercedes, an indulgent margarita made with 1800 Reposado, Grand Marnier, triple sec and fresh citrus mix.
The La Casa Restaurant has six different margaritas ranging from $8 to $13. Their basic house margarita is made with your choice of blanco or reposado tequila, triple sec, lime, and agave, while their Oaxacan Daisy is made with Mezcal, triple sec, and agave. Their most expensive margarita, the Exquisita, is made with maestro dobel, di amore, lime, and agave.
Mariachi de Oro has a traditional margarita for $7, which you can choose to flavor with strawberry, lime, mango, or blue curacao. Their coronaritas are $9 a pop, and you can get a 60-ounce margarita for just $18. All margaritas are served with salt on the rim of the glass. Mariachi’s specialty margaritas are all made from scratch using fresh-squeezed oranges and limes.
