This program is a partnership between the Mountain Top Arboretum and the New York Flora Association to help anyone of any level of expertise who is interested in plant identification to identify tree species in a relaxed and supportive way. We will spend our time acquiring the tools necessary to correctly identify trees primarily during the growing season. During the course of the morning, participants will learn how to use identification keys, how to create their own keys and will learn the diagnostic features of a host of native tree species.
Most walking will be on trails so appropriate footwear should be used. Be prepared with snacks, adequate water, and sunscreen and appropriate clothing for the forecast. Ticks may be present so be prepared to repel. A hand lens would be useful if you have one.
Masks are recommended for entry inside the Education Center during programs.
